"Reason" Treason:
- Do you have a "reason" you don't exercise as often as you should. Or eat as healthy as you should.
- "I'm too tired at the end of the day"
- "I had a hard day so I broke down and had a______________(you feel in the blank with your favorite comfort food) "
- and the list of "reasons" go on.
Women don't prioritize themselves
I always have a few dozen well dressed, manicured, professional women that will debate me on this issue. They point to their name brand named clothes and shoes, spa trips and vacations and say " I prioritize myself". My response " No, you indulge yourself".
When I say prioritize yourself, I mean honor your mind, body, and spirit in everything you do. Not just what you put on your body but what you put in your body as well. Creating a lifestyle where work, kids, or relationships do not put you in cycle that allows you to abuse your body and the abuse manifest it self in excess fat and a general unhealthy state. Signs that you are not prioritizing yourself:
- Your boss or kids stress you out and the ice cream comes out.
- You have a billion things to do and taking care of your body, by exercising is NOT one of them.
- Stopping to eat a healthy meal in between running errands is not a priority and you starve all day then over eat when you get home at the end of the night.
Why most people have a hard time sticking to an exercise plan
Most people simply don't know what to do:
When most people try to lose weight they do cardio, cardio, cardio. Walking or going to gym and getting on the equipment. They often "call themselves" dieting by cutting out meals, which actually sabatges weight loss. Or they join some pre-packaged meal plan system like weight watchers or jenny Craig and consume preservative filled, high sodium meals that never allow them to "learn" how to feed themselves and create a healthy eating lifestyle.

My name is Mubarakah (pronounced moo-ba-ra-ka) and I am a certified personal trainer and fitness expert (you can read my bio here) . I have a personal mission to help women become more healthy and fit so you can, as Oprah says, "live your best life ever". I believe with the proper motivation, information and dedication anyone can create the body they desire. It doesn't matter if you have been "big all your life" or have "tried to loose weight" countless of times. With the proper guidance YOU CAN DO IT!
I have been working with women and wellness related issues for the last 10 years. But more improtantly than that I am also a mother of four, a wife, a sister, and a daughter so I understand the burdens and joys of being a women.
I am a business owner and president of an organization and I know what responsibility, deadlines and unexpected turns can create in life.
I am also a fitness enthusiast and recreational athlete so I know what it's like to have personal health and fitness goals.
And I've been where you are at some point in my life. Here are few phases of my life's journey that you may be able to relate to. . .
- Gained 80lbs after complications with my first pregnancy
- Gain between 20-30lbs of extra weight with each of my other 3 children
- Stay at home mom for 10 years, home schooling all of them.
- Working full time, going to school full time, in addition to raising 4 children and a husband (Okay we know that's really 5 children :)
- Own a business, going to school part time and trying to lose that last 10lbs I've promised myself I wouldn't gain this winter (it happen to the best of us)
